How did you first get interested and associated with backyard wrestling?

Well I have always loved wrestling, and have watched it since I can remember. One day I decided to start organizing the wrestling me and my friends did, and we formed XHW.

Do you feel backyard wrestling has to be hardcore, or have plenty of high-risk spots to be entertaining? (and why)

To a point yeah. I think high risk stuff, and hardcore stuff will sell a tape to someone, but it is overall entertainment that keeps them coming back for more. Storylines, gimmicks, and a lot of other stuff go into making a truly good backyard fed. Despite what some people say, backyard wrestling isn't all about the wrestling.

What do your parents and family think of you backyard wrestling?

My mom doesn't really like it, but she doesn't try to stop me. I'm sure she would like it if I just quit, but she doesn't get on my case about it.

Describe the gimmick you use:

CorPZ is the ultimate heel. Whatever the fans like, such as hardcore wrestling, he does the exact opposite. So he goes out and dose a bunch of boring moves like hammerlocks, and tries to ruin the show. Most of the time he will start getting his ass kicked, and will have no choice but to go hardcore to survive. He has sort of a dark, but brilliant personality. He is smart, but has sort of an "I'm smarter than you" attitude.

What do you feel are the three most important parts in making a backyard wrestling match work?

You have got to have everyone in the match on the same page, and they need to work well together. Some wrestlers just don't work well with each other, and some work very well with each other. I know I have favorite people to wrestle, and then there are people I don't care to wrestle. Also their wrestling styles need to not conflict with each other. If you have a hardcore guy wrestling a guy who doesn't take hardcore bumps, then you wont have much of a match.

Why has backyard wrestling became so popular?

For the same reason basketball, baseball, football, and so on have become so popular. TV has made wrestling a part of peoples lives, and kids who watch wrestling want to grow up and be just like their favorite wrestler. That's the same reason why people get into any other sport, like basketball, because they want to be a pro, and be a star, and have all the fans and money.

In your opinion, what will happen to backyard wrestling in the next few years?

Truthfully, I see it about the same place it is now. I mean why would a TV network put backyard wrestling on TV, when they could put pro wrestling on TV. I don't think there is backyard fed that is better than any real pro fed. Sure they are some that are better than these little Indy feds that come to your high school, but that's not much of a pro fed. I think backyard wrestling will stay something that is only done by die hard wrestling fans. That is the tradition behind backyard wrestling. So don't hold your breath on seeing backyard wrestling on nation TV, unless it is on the news.

Closing statements:

I just want to give a shout out to all the guys in XHW, and say good luck to everyone who backyard wrestles.
